Enjoy Labor Day Weekend

For many Americans, Labor Day is the unofficial end of the summer (technically summer doesn’t end until September 21st). Take this one last 3 day weekend of summer to enjoy yourself. After all, the holiday was created to celebrate you, the American workforce. To not have a good time isn’t considered treason, but that’s only because America is awesomely tolerant of Debbie Downers and Bernie Bummers.

Did you know Labor Day was officially recognized as a holiday by Congress in June of 1894 to be celebrated annually on the first Monday in September? Well, now you do. It was “created by the nation’s labor movement and dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers.” If you want to learn more about the history, knock yourself out at the U.S. Department of Labor.

With that in mind, go ahead and start setting up your out-of-office autoreply emails, log in to the WebLink online control panel for your virtual phone system and change your auto attendant or voicemail greeting to let callers know you’re off duty and they should do the same until Tuesday. Then turn off the computer.

Running a business is a tireless effort, and you’ve been working hard all year spending long nights and early mornings fine-tuning plans and products, networking, and making sure employees are kept happy and productive.

Spend the weekend with family and friends doing what makes you happy. Work can wait until Tuesday; you’ve earned Monday’s holiday.

How are you going to spend Labor Day?
